NO COUNTRY FOR WOMEN? 25 November INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

While in Italy there is an atmosphere that feeds the cultural stereotypes gender, homophobia and misogyny, we recorded a steady increase in cases of violence against women. The data on femicide are disturbing: there are 50 in only four months in 2010 in contrast to the overall drop in murders. Violence continues to unfold in more subtle households: this, however, is wrongly perceived as a private matter. You must, however, that the entire civil society to feel involved with this emergency, because it affects us all / i assume it is an indicator of civilization.

Undesiderioincomune, networking with other groups, is organizing a demonstration for November 25, International Day Against Violence Against Women, to cross the city with opportunities to meet, memory, thought and information.

The first event to be held the eve of International Day on the evening of November 24 at the Book Bar Via Principe Amedeo 122, will be a meeting-reading-discussion titled "The endless possibilities of being women and men to be against the logic of oppression."

The events of 25 will begin with the traveling exhibition "assumes that surrounds violence against women?". The set consists of 6 shapes showing the data on forms of violence against women (psychological, physical, cultural, sexual) that are placed from the first morning at the central station (Piazza Moro), the local market and the campus of Japigia university.

In the afternoon, the exhibition will move at the entrance of the City of Bari, where they will be positioned banquets information, and will form a circle of silence in memory of women murdered in Italy, with signs bearing the names of the victims. In the council chamber will be held from 18.00 also video projections, reading, and some planned interventions.

The day will end with a flash mob in piazza Ferarrese to 21.00 and to follow dj set at Glamorama.
